TRAINING YOU CAN TRUST & A CERTIFICATION RECOGNIZED WORLD WIDE
The philosophy is simple: anyone and everyone can and should be a diver. To accomplish this we break down all of the skills you will need as an Open Water diver into fun games in order to create a lively and fun learning environment! If you aren’t having fun learning how to scuba dive you didn’t take the course with us! The reasoning is simple, if you are having fun, you learn faster and are more likely to excel at what you are doing. It is our hope by providing exceptional training in a safe but fun environment you are more likely to acquire the skills you will need to become an ambassador to our sport and to our local aquatic environment. For those who want to dive, we offer a schedule to help you on your way to become the best diver you can be. Our class sizes are small for most types of courses, typically between 4 and 6 students. This gives us plenty of time for one on one attention and more time for fun activities designed to make your experience more enjoyable. Every class has at least one dive instructor and one professional assistant in order to give you the one on one attention you deserve. Remember if it seems like work, you probably aren’t scuba diving with us! Do you have a group of people that would like to get certified? Cal Coast Scuba Instruction offers discounts to small businesses, large corporations, and institutions of learning! Send us an e-mail at info@calcoastdivers.com for more information on this and other deals available to small businesses, large corporations, and academic institutions for this course and others! THE OPEN WATER CERTIFICATION COURSE The PADI Open Water Certification requires the completion of 5 class modules, 5 pool modules, and 4 ocean dives as well as an optional skin dive. We offer 4 ways to complete the course; the Accelerated Open Water Course, the Weekend Open Water Course, the In Week Open Water Course, and the Private Open Water Course. Entry into our course requires you to complete the PADI sports physical. The physical is a series of questions for you and your doctor to discuss prior to commencement in your Open Water Course. The physical is due on orientation day. All dues should also be paid for on or before orientation day. For the open water course you will need a mask, SCUBA fins, snorkel, dive booties, and gloves. It is strongly recommended for your convenience, safety, and comfort you also purchase a dive gear bag, a dive whistle, a dive slate, and dive clips for your octopus and computer. On orientation night you will be given a gear lecture in order to help you decide which gear is right for you now and in the future. *Are you working towards a degree? Our courses are transferable to most institutions for college credit! E-mail us at info@calcoastdivers.com for more information!* ABOUT OUR OPEN WATER COURSES The grand total for the course will vary depending on which course set up you choose. All courses are offered on a monthly payment plan and may cost you as little as 40 dollars a month and as little as four days to complete your certification course! Each class will have an optional, but highly recommended, field trip where a lecture on personal gear will be given. At that time each student will have an opportunity to consult with their instructor in order to ensure every student gets the gear that is right for them! The Accelerated Open Water Diver Course Tuition: $305.00 *Hotel Accommodations: Up to student Textbook and videos: $65.00 Boat Ticket: prices vary depending upon SCUBA Rental: $55.00 the boat and destination $55.00-85.00 *Hotel Accommodations are only necessary for classes whose check out dives are conducted over the weekend on Catalina Island The Accelerated Open Water Diver Course is designed for those students who enjoy learning on their own and can dedicate time before their class begins to complete the required reading and videos. The Accelerated Course varies in length from one week to two weeks. The Accelerated Course has one class session designed to review key concepts and is then followed by a final exam. Like all other classes the Accelerated Course covers 5 pool modules, 5 class room modules, and a minimum of four dives. Since the accelerated course does require you to either buy the PADI Open Water Videos OR the PADI Open Water CD-Rom it is more expensive than our other courses by 60 dollars. If you are serious about diving and have a dead line to meet give the Accelerated Course a try! This course can have you certified to dive in as little as one week! *If you are a person looking to get certified with a group of people you know, please contact us for special rates for non-posted Open Water Diver Courses to suit your schedule. The Private Open Water Diver Course
upon boat and destination $55.00-85.00
*Hotel Accommodations are only necessary for classes whose check out dives are
conducted over the weekend on Catalina Island Our most popular course offering allows students to focus on learning the basics on their own while still allowing plenty of time to ask questions. The interactive cd-rom used in this course allows students the ability to interact with their text book instead of just reading it. Quick knowledge checks and knowledge reviews throughout and at the end of each chapter allow students to measure their learning, and call attention to any weak points. Video clips throughout the reading allow visual learners to actually see the concept as well! Now that the basics are understood more class time may be spent learning about the local environment as well as gear and diving tips the student will need when diving on their own!
